The worst part about being a writer

Is that everyone wants you to edit things for them always and no one seems to understand that this is how you earn a living and that maybe they should offer to compensate you in some way.

Also, I go CRAZY with a ball-point pen and then worry that those unaccustomed to the “workshop” atmosphere will get their feelings hurt.

Sigh. Writing.

I wanted to make a “Shit People Say to Writers” video at one point. Highlights would include:

• Ohmygod, you should write a show about me!
• You need to read my essay because my professor gave me a C+. She just doesn’t get that I do my own thing but you’ll get it.
• Can you proofread this? But don’t correct any of my capitalization, I’m trying to do that guy…that poet guy…E something…
• Can you edit my 42 page history essay? It’s due tomorrow.
• You write jokes? Why? You aren’t funny.
• You know what’s a good show? Family Guy. You should write like that.
• You should write a sketch about me/my sister/my second cousin
